Nothing brings people together like a delicious meal. It is the age old tactic in community organizing: if you feed them, they will come. We have used this idea for years through our community picnics. Each spring and fall we stop all of our work and take a moment to share a meal with our neighbors. It is a beautiful experience, as our staff, students, friends, neighbors, and board members sit down together in community. When we share in this common experience together, we build power from within. This is why we believe community matters.
We invite you to share a meal with us at our fall community picnic this Wednesday, September 10 from 11:30am – 2pm. We will have tables, chairs, and food in our parking lot at 2118 Saint Michael Street.
