The Washing Well project was selected as a 2014 Impact 100 Grant Winner! The Washing Well will create safe, affordable, and local laundry for all residents of Lower Price Hill. The goal of the project is two fold: 1) to create a place for residents to access laundry and 2) to contribute to the economic health of the entire community with a new small business. Over the past few months we have developed a business plan for the Washing Well with Xavier University, so that it can become a sustainable enterprise in Lower Price Hill. The $109,000 of Impact 100 funds will help to start up the Washing Well and make it a welcoming and engaging place to be in LPH. It will be located on the Saint Michael Community Campus at 2110 Saint Michael Street and will begin operations in 2015.
The experience of earning this grant was thrilling, nerve wracking, and inspiring. The process included: submitting a letter of intent, complete grant application, site visit, committee review, and a 10 minute presentation to all Impact 100 members. We are so thrilled to be selected for this grant and for the opportunity to make this project possible. We are also excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the other winners, MyCincinnati Youth Orchestra and Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati.
